"What makes you wet? The mechanisms of fluids"
The theme of the exhibition "What makes you wet? The mechanisms of fluids" concerns the properties of fluid elements and how they are related to sexuality. Fluids represent bodily functions that are often considered "dirty" and their boundaries are blurred. The points of contact between people can be seen as invisible fluids, a symbolic interpretation of the associations we create, turning eroticism into a vehicle to synthesize different qualities and materials, unique to each person.

Garip (Γκαρίπ) means “strange, bizarre, poor, foreigner, living abroad, miserable” in Turkish. Arabic originated word also owned by sufi dervishes. Sufi practices considered as heterodoxy and even categorized as perversion at various times and concepts by mainstream islam. If you would start asking questions about "what is sufism?" you wouldn't get a clear answer. Is sufism (or tasavvuf) inside the religion or outside? - very sufi answer would be: "neither this nor that", - Is it a religion or a philosophy? -neither this nor that.

For me, Sufism is a mindset or a heartset that breaks down oppositions of the world, particularly in the Western context where I now live. Such as religion vs. sexuality, heart vs. mind, grief vs. sensuality. Why should one oppose the other?

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there." — Rumi.
While preparing for this exhibition, I was still processing the aftermath of the February 6th earthquakes. Even though I was in Athens, I was part of a collective collapse, anger and grief in Turkey. Some friends lost 20–25 family members; my father’s town lost 25 children. Suddenly, 50,000 lives (unofficially, 300,000) vanished from our lives.

In the face of this loss, a deep sense of collective compassion and mutual care is also emerged. During this time, I kept listening to the song "Garip" by Mercan Dede. And I had to produce with those feelings. —a combination of sorrow and joy in living, aroused by the life itself, being part of the motion of the universe and burning with love as someone "garip"; strange, bizarre, poor, foreigner, living abroad and miserable.
